An ESIA study aims at establishing the pre-project environmental and social baseline of an area. It is also a tool for assessing and predicting potential adverse social and environmental impacts and developing suitable mitigation measures, which are further developed into Management Plans. ESIA studies are usually required to satisfy the requirements of the Environment Protection Agency Sierra Leone (EPA-SL) or to secure funding from international lenders such as World Bank, African Development Bank, etc.

Environmental Audits are conducted to assess an organisation’s level of compliance with Environmental Commitments made by them and required by external oversight bodies. An audit identifies area of compliance and flags areas of non-compliance.
