The proposed works relate to the development of the highway entry connection to Phase 1A of the SIZ Koya, including an entry/exit access road tied into the Masiaka–Yonibana Highway using a phased concept (Phase 1: 2027–2029; Masterplan Phase: post-2029 to 2032).
The geotechnical investigation and DCP testing cover the access/entry road corridor between Km 0+000 and Km 0+800. The entry/exit access carriageway is indicated as 7.0m wide, with acceleration/deceleration lane provisions at the highway tie-in.
The proposed investigation site is located in Koya. The site is situated in a semi-rural setting, predominantly characterised by flat topography and currently occupied by bushland and agricultural activities. Surface vegetation includes grasses, shrubs, and scattered trees, consistent with an area under mixed subsistence farming.
Arise Integrated Industrial Platforms (AIP), proposes to develop a modern Inland Container Depot (ICD) within the Special Industrial Zone (SIZ) at Koya, Sierra Leone. This development forms part of a national strategy to improve trade efficiency, expand logistics capacity, and promote industrial growth in the region.
CEMMATS Group Ltd. has been engaged to carry out a geotechnical investigation specifically to support the pavement design of the proposed internal road network serving the ICD development. The road will provide a critical transport link for vehicular movement within the industrial zone and between operational facilities.
